Clean Up Australia Day community event

Published 7 February 2024
Clean Up Australia is calling on all Australians to take part in the upcoming Clean Up Australia Day on Sunday 3 March.

City of Port Phillip is hosting a Clean Up Australia Day event at Marina Reserve, St Kilda on Sunday 3 March from 9 am to 10.30 am to help keep our bay beautiful and clean.

Last year saw over 760,000 Australians get together for Clean Up Australia Day. This year Clean Up Australia is hoping to see a similar, if not better response, as the community comes together to help tidy our beaches and streets to prevent litter from entering the environment and waterways.

Please register your interest to ensure we have the equipment for you ready on the day.

For more information about our Clean Up Australia event, or to create your own event, visit the Clean Up Australia website.

Everyone is welcome and we look forward to seeing you.

Please bring:

  • Hat
  • Water bottle
  • Weather appropriate clothing

We will provide:

  • Gloves
  • Recycling bags
  • General waste bags
  • Sunscreen and hand sanitiser will be available on site.

You can also help clean up our City any day of the year by joining your local Beach Patrol group.

Beach Patrol groups meet for monthly neighbourhood clean-up events and enjoy a coffee together afterwards.

More information about Council services

Our streets are cleaned on a regular basis by our Street and Beach Services team.  During the warmer months our manual litter pickers clean every day of the week. We also conduct mechanical beach cleans and schedule additional cleaning services in popular locations such as St Kilda, when the temperature exceeds 25 degrees.
