Card fees
Transaction fees are applied for some credit and debit card payments to Council. The amount depends on which card you're using and the payment option. The fee is calculated as a fixed percentage of your bill.
The fee is limited to what it costs us to accept the payment. We review all fees annually.
The following fees apply from 1 March 2024.
Online services

BPAY
BPay payments have no transaction fees. It is a payment option for all debtors.

Australia Post shops do not accept American Express.
City of Port Phillip Town Halls
In person at St Kilda Town Hall or Port Melbourne Town Hall. South Melbourne Town Hall is closed until further notice.

Biller codes
To pay with BPAY, BPOINT or at an Australia Post shop, you will need the biller code for the service you want to pay and the reference number on your invoice or notice.
