Curate and Operate a New Market at Kings Way Reserve or Alma Park 

Overview

The City of Port Phillip is seeking Expressions of Interest from experienced individuals, businesses, or organisations to establish, curate and operate a new market at one of two available council-managed sites:

  • Kings Way/ Bowen Cresent Reserve, or
  • Alma Park

This is an opportunity to establish a high‑quality market within precincts that would benefit from increased activation and regular community-focused programming. The market should operate safely and sustainably, and deliver positive social, economic and placemaking outcomes for local residents, workers and visitors. This opportunity is intended to support the activation of public open space and deliver vibrant, high‑quality market experiences that reflect the character of each site and meet the needs of the surrounding community.

Council is seeking proposals for markets including:

  • Farmers’ or produce markets
  • Fresh food or specialty food markets
  • Food truck or street food markets
  • Artisan, maker or design-led markets
  • Twilight, evening or seasonal markets
  • Themed or hybrid market concepts.

Applicants may propose:

  • Weekly, fortnightly or monthly operation
  • Daytime or twilight/evening trading
  • Seasonal or year‑round programming.

Interested parties should submit an application via the Expression of Interest form.

Expressions of Interest will be accepted until close of business Friday 1 May 2026

Major events and markets 2026/27

The major events and markets EOI process for the 2026/27 season closed 5 pm Friday 3 October 2025.

Applications for events between July 2026 and June 2027 will not be considered until all EOI events approvals are finalised.

What is the EOI process for?

The annual Expression of Interest (EOI) process is for applications from individuals and organisations who want to run events or markets in Council-managed public spaces between July 2026 to June 2027.

Our EOI process is open to all activities, but it is particularly focused on the following types:

  • major events
  • events requiring closures of major roads
  • long-stay events
  • ticketed events attracting over 1,000 attendees
  • markets with more than four proposed dates.
