October 2023: Help Shape Our City - our engagement projects
Thank you to everyone who provided feedback to help shape our initiatives. Your input is important for us to ensure we provide the best services. Your knowledge and understanding of how Council initiatives are working will help us to improve and to make Port Phillip a great place to live, work and visit. We look forward to your thoughts, insights and feedback.
Projects seeking your feedback
Proposed lease of the Port Phillip EcoCentre
The redevelopment of the EcoCentre in the St Kilda Botanical Gardens is underway and due for completion in mid-2024. Once completed, it's proposed that the EcoCentre facility be leased to Port Phillip EcoCentre Incorporated for a period of up to 15 years.
Provide your feedback by midnight Monday 6 November.
Improving road and pedestrian safety on Inkerman Street
Inkerman Street has a high number of crashes compared to other Council-managed roads, with 33 recorded crashes between St Kilda Road and Hotham Street in the five years to June 2022. 14 of these crashes resulted in serious injury. Help improve safety by choosing a concept design you’d like to see delivered.
Provide your feedback by midnight Thursday 23 November.
Upcoming Projects
Reinvigorating shopping on Acland Street, St Kilda
Acland Street is well-loved shopping strip in our City, and we want to reinvigorate this precinct with a great range of businesses where our community and visitors will love to shop. We'll be asking you about how you currently shop on Acland Street, the kinds of businesses you'd like to shop at in the future, as well as hear about your ideas that would benefit Acland Street in general.
A safe and accessible South Melbourne Market
We’ll be asking for your feedback on how we can improve the public space around the market and how it integrates with the surrounding streets.
Elwood Reserve – upgrade to change rooms and toilet facilities
To keep up with demand, and to ensure the safety of all users, we are proposing to construct a temporary building to house new facilities including two club users’ change rooms and four all gender toilets. We'll be asking for your feedback on the proposal soon.
New pump track at RF Julier Reserve, Port Melbourne
In 2022, we asked for your thoughts on the possibility of a pump track (an asphalt circular track with bumps and jumps) at RF Julier Reserve, for people of all ages and abilities to enjoy. Based on strong community support, we are now progressing with the project. A draft concept plan has been developed and you will be able to provide your feedback on it.
Review of the Heritage controls in the Elwood Heritage Precinct
We’ll be reviewing the heritage controls (Heritage Overlay 8) to a number of properties around Glen Huntly and Ormond Roads in Elwood and asking for your feedback.
