Digital permits are coming soon

On 2 June 2025, we will change from physical permits to digital for our registration-based permits. The change to digital permits does not apply to visitor permits.

From this date, the next time you renew your permit, instead of displaying a sticker on your vehicle, your resident, foreshore and combined permit will be registered digitally.

The process to renew your permit or apply for a new permit remains the same.

Read our frequently asked questions about the change to digital parking permits.

Current wait time for your parking permit

If you have applied for a resident, combined resident and foreshore or a foreshore parking permit, your vehicle has digital coverage while we process residential applications.

Visitor Permits do not have any digital coverage and are only valid when displayed.

You can check the status of your permit application online. Log in to your My Port Phillip account anytime and check My Parking Permits.

Why we need parking permits?

Parking permits don’t guarantee a parking space. They help manage and prioritise our parking spaces, to give everyone who needs parking fair access.

The Parking Management Policy provides the framework for managing parking across our City. The number and type of parking permit(s) available depends on:

  • what area of our City you live
  • the dwelling you live in
  • the year the dwelling was build
  • access to driveways, crossovers and off-street parking.

Residential parking permits (Resident, Combined Resident and Foreshore, Foreshore only and Visitor) are only for current residents of the City of Port Phillip.

It is an offence to accept a permit if you are not the permit holder or legitimate visitor. It is also an offence to sell, give away or rent a parking permit. You can be found in breach of the City of Port Phillip’s Local Law No 1 (Community Amenity) 2013.
