A win for St Kilda Park Primary School, with more to do

Council congratulates the school community on building a compelling case for investment and successfully elevating the need for improved facilities as a key election issue.
Victorian Labor has committed $3.77 million towards upgrades to existing school facilities, while the Victorian Greens have announced a $12 million commitment to deliver a community hall, specialist learning spaces and compliant toilet facilities.
Council welcomes both commitments as significant milestones in the school's advocacy campaign. Labor's funding represents an important and much-needed investment in the school's existing infrastructure, while the Greens' commitment responds to the school's longer-term vision by supporting the delivery of new facilities that would benefit both students and the broader community.
A new multi-purpose hall and specialist learning spaces would help address longstanding gaps in the school's infrastructure and create opportunities for broader community use outside school hours, including meetings, classes, children's programs, recreation and local events.
At its meeting on 7 October 2026, Council unanimously recognised the potential community benefit of additional indoor community meeting and activity space and resolved to support the school's advocacy for State Government investment. The proposal also aligns with Council's State Election Advocacy campaign, which identifies investment in community infrastructure and shared facilities as essential to supporting growing and changing communities.
While Council welcomes Labor's commitment as a positive step forward, the $12 million commitment announced by the Greens more closely reflects the scale of investment required to realise the school's full vision for its future.
Council now calls on all candidates and parties contesting the electorates of Albert Park and Prahran to support equivalent funding and match the full $12 million investment needed to deliver the community hall, specialist facilities and supporting infrastructure sought by the school community.
With significant momentum now building behind the campaign, Council encourages all candidates and parties contesting Albert Park and Prahran to back the school community's vision and match the full $12 million commitment. Doing so would provide certainty for the delivery of the community hall, specialist facilities and supporting infrastructure that local families have worked so hard to secure.
