100 Days to Go: Building Momentum for Port Phillip's State Election Priorities

With 100 days until the Victorian State Election, City of Port Phillip is intensifying its advocacy campaign by engaging candidates, political parties and community stakeholders to secure commitments on the priorities that matter most to our community.

Our State Election Priorities focus on key areas including community safety, transport, housing, climate resilience, arts and culture, open space, community infrastructure and economic development. 

Together, these priorities will help deliver lasting benefits for residents, businesses, community organisations and visitors alike.

Engaging with decision-makers

Over recent months, Council has met with sitting Members of Parliament and representatives from all major political parties to advocate for Port Phillip's priorities and highlight the outcomes they will deliver for our community.

Our approach is non-partisan and focused on one goal: securing the best possible outcomes for Port Phillip, regardless of which party forms government.

Speaking with many voices

Strong advocacy is most effective when it is backed by the community.

That's why Council is reaching out to close stakeholders across Port Phillip, inviting them to support and help promote our election priorities on the issues that matter most, through their networks and engagement with political representatives.

By working together, we can demonstrate broad community support for the initiatives and investments that will make a real difference to Port Phillip.

How you can help

We encourage residents, businesses, traders, sporting clubs and community organisations to:

  • Share Council's State Election Priorities through your networks and communications channels.
  • Write to local MPs, candidates and political parties.
  • Encourage others in your community to learn about and support the priorities.
  • Use our Community advocacy toolkit to support you to build awareness of your key issues and influence positive change.

Mayor Cr Alex Makin said the next 100 days would be critical in turning community priorities into election commitments:

"With just 100 days to go, our advocacy campaign is entering its most important phase.
In the lead up to election day, Council will continue meeting with candidates, supporting community forums, facilitating candidate visits across our city and seeking commitments to secure better outcomes for our City.
We won't stop advocating until election day, but we can’t do this alone. Every conversation, community endorsement and public commitment will strengthen our collective voice to achieve stronger outcomes for Port Phillip.
Together, we can ensure Port Phillip's priorities remain front and centre throughout the election campaign and beyond."
