Shakespeare Grove Artist Studios

Set in the heart of St Kilda near the site of the tranquil Veg Out Community Gardens, Shakespeare Grove Artist Studios provide affordable studio spaces for local visual artists to expand their arts practice.


About the Studios

The Shakespeare Grove Artist Studios have fifteen individual visual artist studios. Managed by Council, they are available to individual artists for up to three years residency following an application process.

Five studios will be available in 2024: one smaller studio is currently available and four studios will become available in late 2024.

Visual artists living or working in the City of Port Phillip can apply online for studios becoming available through Smarty Grants on-line application form.

Application process

Online applications close at 4pm on Friday 19 April 2024. Late applications will not be accepted.

Artists applying for a studio must ensure they upload the following Supplementary Material:

  • a current curriculum vitae
  • an artist's statement (up to one page) outlining your key creative ideas and goals
  • up to 12 good quality images of your recent work
  • A list of your submitted work detailing the title, date dimensions and medium
