Other information

The oldest lifesaving club on Port Phillip Bay, Elwood LSC has a rich history of service to the community. The club was established in 1912, quickly becoming an integral part of Elwood’s social fabric and remains so today.

Our volunteer lifesavers watch over more than 50,000 beachgoers each season, typically patrolling Elwood foreshore on weekends and public holidays from late November to April.

Qualified volunteers also perform water safety duties at numerous events including the 2XU Triathlon Series, Australian Corporate Triathlon and Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon.

Elwood’s Nippers program teaches children aged 5-13 vital water safety and surf skills, with sessions usually held from November to February each Sunday.

The club’s mission is to provide a safe, positive environment for all members where they can develop the knowledge and skills needed to enable them to fulfil their potential and gain enjoyment while supporting the club in providing lifesaving services to users of Elwood beach and the Elwood community.
