Why are we doing this?
The sports lighting at Alma Park East Oval is being upgraded to provide a safer and more reliable facility for local sporting clubs and community users.
The existing lights are ageing and no longer meet current standards. The project will replace the four existing lighting poles and install new LED sports lights to improve visibility across the oval.
The new lighting will support evening training and competition, improve the quality of the facility and reduce ongoing energy and maintenance costs. It will help ensure the oval continues to support local sport and recreation for years to come.
The impact
During construction
Some temporary impacts are expected while the works are underway, including:
Restricted access to parts of the oval and nearby work areas.
Construction vehicles, equipment and workers on site.
Construction noise during normal working hours.
We will work with the local community, sporting clubs and users to reduce disruption where possible and will provide updates before major works begin.
Objectives
The project will:
Replace the four existing sports lighting poles.
Install new LED sports lighting.
Improve lighting across the oval.
Upgrade electrical components required to meet current standards.
Provide a safer and more reliable lighting system for community sport.
