Celebrate NAIDOC Week 2026 in the City of Port Phillip

NAIDOC Week 2026: 50 Years of Deadly
NAIDOC Week 2026 marks 50 Years of Deadly – a significant milestone celebrating five decades of strong, proud and unapologetic voices of First Peoples across Australia.
This theme honours the Elders, leaders, artists and communities who have driven NAIDOC forward, creating space for truth-telling, cultural expression and collective strength.
NAIDOC Week is more than a celebration. It is a platform for recognition, a continuation of advocacy, and a powerful expression of survival, identity and resilience. The theme also speaks to the present and the future – to First Peoples who are grounded in culture, strong in identity, and leading across all areas of community life, and to the next generation who will carry this work forward.
At the City of Port Phillip, NAIDOC Week is an opportunity to listen, learn and celebrate with community, and to acknowledge the strength, leadership and cultural knowledge of First Peoples.
NAIDOC Week Flag Raising Ceremony
City of Port Phillip invites community members, partners and stakeholders to gather for our NAIDOC Week Flag Raising Ceremony, marking the beginning of NAIDOC Week 2026 and celebrating the strength, resilience and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples
Held on the front lawn of St Kilda Town Hall, this ceremony brings our community together to recognise the enduring cultures, histories and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and to reaffirm our shared commitment to reconciliation.
The ceremony will be held in collaboration with Bunurong Land Council Aboriginal Corporation and will include the raising of the Aboriginal Flag and Torres Strait Islander flags.
