Council assesses each permit application against the Port Phillip Planning Scheme, local policies, Council strategies and guidelines, and Australian laws and regulations. We take into consideration the views of internal experts, referral authorities, service authorities and objectors.

Building permits

Building permits are issued by building surveyors. All building surveyors are responsible under law to make decisions about building permits according to the Building Code of Australia, Building Act 1993 and Building Regulations 2018.
