Public holiday parking

Parking restrictions in the City of Port Phillip are in place to help make car parking spaces more readily available for shoppers, visitors and residents.
  • From 12 midday Tuesday 22 September to 6 pm Sunday 24 October, the City of Port Phillip will enter into the Election Period for the Council Elections.

You can still contact us during this period and we’ll resume regular operation on Monday 26 October.

Parking restrictions may still apply on a public holiday. If the sign doesn’t refer to public holidays, you should apply the following rules:

  • If the parking sign states it only applies on certain days of the week, the restrictions do not apply on a public holiday.
Examples of these are signs that state Mon–Fri or Sat-Sun. See Sign A.
In this example you do not need to pay for parking.
  • If the parking sign does not state any days of the week, the restrictions do apply on public holidays.
You must adhere to the restriction every day, including public holidays. See Sign B.
In this example you are required to pay for parking.
  • If the parking sign refers to public holidays, the restrictions do apply and you must adhere to them. See Sign C.
