Thrive is designed to equip young people aged 16 to 25 with the necessary skills for entering the workforce or pursuing further studies, helping you feel confident and set for your next steps in work or study. The program will feature a series of skills-based short courses and workshops.

Responsible Service of Alcohol

Gain the skills and knowledge to safely serve and supply alcohol. This course is a requirement for anyone working in a licensed alcohol serving venue across Australia including bottle shops, hospitality venues, wineries, breweries and distilleries.

You will learn:
Assist customers to drink within appropriate limits
Assess alcohol affected customers
How to refuse service of alcohol

Youth Mental Health First Aid

Gain the skills to recognise, understand, and respond to signs of mental health challenges in young people.

This accredited training provides evidence-based strategies for supporting friends, peers, or colleagues who may be experiencing mental health difficulties.

You will learn:
Recognise the warning signs of mental health problems in young people
Learn the skills to have an open conversation about mental health
Respond across a range of crisis situations
Reduce stigma and increase support for young people

Say It Loud: Youth Advocacy Training

Do you want to know how to lead change in your community and be heard by decision makers?

This workshop informs and inspires young people to make change they are passionate about. You’ll explore advocacy concepts through reflective and group activities, helping you understand decision-making, stakeholder engagement, and public advocacy. You’ll also gain practical tools, real examples, and tips for engaging your community and choosing advocacy approaches that suit you. This is a hands-on session, delivered by the Youth Affairs Council Victoria (YACVic).

Network mapping
Decision-making
Pitching your ideas and developing a personal advocacy plan
Campaigning: barriers and challenges
Youth Advisory Councils and putting ideas into action

Rewriting the Agenda: Youth-Led Meetings Training

Could you benefit from learning the skills to run great meetings?
This workshop gives you the tools to plan and lead effective meetings. Participants will learn how to write agendas, create safe and accessible meeting spaces, and take part in interactive activities that mirror real-world board or council meetings. You’ll walk away with practical, professional skills to support future work, leadership, or personal projects. This is a hands-on session, delivered by the Youth Affairs Council Victoria (YACVic).

You will learn:
Meeting planning and agenda writing
How to conduct meetings
Creating inclusive meeting environments
Problem solving and conflict management
Online vs in-person vs hybrid meetings
Action, ownership, and follow-up
