Cr Rod Hardy brings deep experience in public service and local government to his role as Councillor for Middle Park Ward. A long-time resident of Middle Park, Rod purchased his home in 1999 after previously living in the Macedon Ranges, northern suburbs of Melbourne, and London.

Rod’s professional background includes a long career in Victoria Police, along with several years working in the UK for national security services and as Operations Manager in the Community Protection Department for the City of Westminster—one of the highlights of his career.

He spent 16 years in the Macedon Ranges, where he was an active member of the community, serving as a Councillor in both the Shire of Newham and Woodend and the Shire of Macedon Ranges. He was honoured to become the inaugural Mayor following amalgamation in 1995.

Rod was elected to the City of Port Phillip Council in 2024 where he ran to bring strong, experienced, and balanced representation to the community and remains committed to putting residents at the centre of Council decision-making.

Rod’s priorities include ensuring balanced and protected development in heritage areas, enhancing community safety, supporting local businesses, and promoting fair rating and efficient use of council funds.
