Port Melbourne Town Hall

Why are we doing this?
Port Melbourne Town Hall requires essential maintenance and safety upgrades. The existing HVAC system has reached the end of its useful life and needs to be replaced to ensure proper operation and achieve sustainability goals. Additionally, hazardous materials such as asbestos must be safely removed as part of health and safety compliance. Improvements are also needed to address recommendations from the recent security audit.
The impact
There will be restricted access to certain areas of Port Melbourne Town Hall during specific components of the replacement and upgrade works. The aim is to minimise disruption to all PMTH users by ensuring clear communication, robust contingency planning, and appropriate staff accommodation - while maintaining safety, building integrity, and operational continuity throughout the replacement works.
Objectives
Port Melbourne Town Hall auditorium is a highly utilised events space with numerous bookings for large events occurring each year. Without an adequate functioning HVAC system the area may be too cold in winter or too hot in summer to safely and comfortably host events.
