Albert Park Bowls Club Pavilion Upgrade

The existing Albert Park Bowls Club pavilion facilities are no longer meeting contemporary standards for functionality or accessibility. The current layout and condition of the change rooms, toilets and supporting spaces, particularly the female amenities and the accessible toilet, do not comply with modern building requirements and limit the club’s ability to accommodate all users. These issues constrain participation, reduce usability and create barriers for members and community groups seeking equitable access.

The project aims to provide compliant, fit‑for‑purpose changing rooms, toilets, office and storage areas that support current and future use. The project seeks to improve amenity, accessibility and operational functionality, enabling the club to better meet the needs of its members and broader community users. The works will ensure the facility aligns with relevant building codes, Council strategies and contemporary expectations for inclusive community sport environments.

During the construction period, the following temporary changes are expected:

• The Albert Park Bowls Club pavilion will be closed to club members and the public for the duration of works.
• Safety signage and fenced work zones will be in place around the construction area.
• Construction activities and vehicle movements will be managed to reduce disruption where possible.
• Traffic management is expected to support safe access for construction vehicles, particularly around the St Vincent Place North area.

• Enlargement and upgrade of the male and female change rooms, including reconfigured internal walls to improve layout and functionality.
• Upgraded male and female bathroom facilities.
• Upgrade of the existing unisex accessible toilet to meet current compliance standards.
• Refurbished office space and an expanded storage room.
• New internal finishes, fixtures, fittings and skylights across all upgraded areas.
