Have your say on a new park at Lansdowne Road

Balaclava and St Kilda East currently have the lowest amount of open space of all our neighbourhoods. We plan to create or expand four additional parks to increase access to nature and green space. This goal aligns with our Places for People: Public Space Strategy.
Earlier this year, we asked our community what their priorities were for new parks. We heard that vegetation and greening, open lawn space and seating were important. We’ve since developed a concept design that reflects these priorities for a new park at 14 Lansdowne Road, St Kilda East.
Park features
Our concept design includes:
- a central open lawn with a raised picnic platform for passive recreation and socialising
- generous garden beds featuring indigenous and pollinator-friendly species to enhance biodiversity
- tree planting, planned to achieve 40 per cent canopy coverage across the site by 2038, contributing to urban cooling
- informal nature play trail made of logs and boulders encouraging exploration and imaginative play
- amenities for comfort and cleanliness including accessible seating, a drinking fountain, and a rubbish bin.
Now we want to know if we’ve got it right. Please let us know your thoughts about the proposed concept design, as well as anything else we may need to consider.
