Essential Maintenance – Port Melbourne Town Hall

Published 15 July 2025
Essential maintenance and safety upgrades will be happening at Port Melbourne Town Hall.

Due to these maintenance and safety upgrades, Port Melbourne Town Hall, the ASSIST service counter and Port Melbourne Library will be closed on Tuesday 22 July, Wednesday 23 July and Tuesday 5 August 2025.

The existing auditorium’s heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system has reached the end of its operational life and must be replaced to ensure proper operation and efficiency.

Entering Port Melbourne Town Hall

To enable these works, the Spring Street North entrance to Port Melbourne Town Hall will be closed from Wednesday 23 July to Thursday 14 August 2025. A few car parks will be restricted during this period.

Please use the main entrance via Spring Street South during this time.

Pedestrian path closure

The pedestrian path will be temporarily closed while the quick tower is being installed and removed, during the closure of the Spring Street North entrance. Traffic management will be in place to guide pedestrians safely to alternative pathways throughout this period.

Road closures

Spring Street South will be temporarily closed on Wednesday 23 July and Tuesday 5 August 2025 to facilitate crane activity. This will involve:

  • restricted parking along Spring Street South
  • pedestrian diversions - traffic controllers and signage will be used to manage the area safely.

Advance notice will be given for any further disruptions as the project continues into August 2025.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we carry out these essential works to enhance our community facilities. For more information on this project, visit: Port Melbourne Town Hall.
