Port Phillip City Council wins Core Values Award

Port Phillip City Council is proud to receive the Core Values Award (Environment) from the Engagement Institute (formerly IAP2) for our community engagement and development for the Urban Forest Strategy 2024–2040.

The Core Values Awards honour outstanding projects and practitioners who exemplify meaningful, inclusive, and effective engagement.

The Urban Forest Strategy was shaped through collaborative, data-driven community engagement, including four rounds of consultation.

This four-stage process engaged over 600 individuals and organisations, with overall positive feedback highlighting the Strategy’s transparency, inclusiveness, and achievability.

Innovative tools such as advanced canopy mapping technology, interactive online spatial mapping, and iterative feedback loops were employed, resulting in a more informed and detailed action plan.

The engagement was underpinned by transparent data sharing, enabling informed dialogue and alignment of diverse community interests.
