Success Stories: Some recent examples of external grants awarded to Port Phillip Council

• Commonwealth Urban Rivers and Catchment Program Grant

  A Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water grant to improve local biodiversity and natural habitat restoration of Elster Creek. This project will enhance the ecological health of the area and provide a greener environment for the community.

• Commonwealth Revive Live Grant

  A Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications, Sport and the Arts (Office for the Arts) grant to enhance cultural engagement and community entertainment. The free St Kilda Festival brought people together and supported Australian artists.

• Commonwealth Housing Support Program Grant

  A Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications, Sport and the Arts grant to deliver a plan to increase housing stability and support for vulnerable populations. This funding will help provide essential services and secure housing for those in need.

• Victorian Safe System Pedestrian Infrastructure Program Grant

  A Department of Transport and Planning (TAC) grant to improve pedestrian safety and accessibility.  The project aims to reduce accidents and make walking routes safer for everyone.

• Victorian School Safety Improvement Program Grant

  A Department of Transport and Planning grant to enhance safety for school children and reduced traffic risks. This initiative will create a safer environment for students commuting to and from school.

• National Australia Day Council Community Events Grant

  A National Australia Day Council grant to foster community spirit and national pride. The event brought residents together to celebrate and strengthened community bonds.

• Victorian Premiers' Reading Challenge Fund Grant

  A Department of Education grant to promote literacy and a love for reading among children. This program encouraged young readers to develop their skills and enjoy books.

• Victorian Local Government Grants

  A Department of Transport and Planning (TAC) grant to improve road safety through informed future safety measures and infrastructure improvements.

  A second Department of Transport and Planning (TAC) grant to develop comprehensive strategies to enhance road safety. This plan addressed key issues and implemented effective solutions to reduce accidents.

• Commonwealth Thriving Suburbs Grants

  A Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts grant to provide a safe and engaging play area for children at the St Kilda Adventure Playground. This playground will offer recreational opportunities and promote physical activity.

  A second Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts grant to enhance recreational spaces and community amenities at the St Kilda pier (landside). The project will improve the foreshore area, making it more enjoyable for residents and visitors.

• Victorian Engage! Grant

  A Department of Families, Fairness and Housing grant to empower youth through engagement and development programs. These initiatives provide young people with skills and opportunities for personal growth.

• VicScreen Grant

  A VicScreen grant to support local film culture and creative industries. The funding helped showcase local talent and promote cultural diversity at the iconic St Kilda Festival.

• Commonwealth Active Transport Fund Grant

  A Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications, Sport and the Arts grant to encourage active transport and reduced traffic congestion. The project will create safer and more accessible pathways for cyclists and pedestrians.

• Victorian Women's Public Art Program Grant

  A Department of Families, Fairness and Housing grant delivered in partnership with the McClelland Sculpture Park and Gallery to honour a prominent and important First Nations women through a public art piece. The statue project will serve as a lasting tribute to Lousia Briggs’ achievements and inspire future generations of locals and visitors.

• Commonwealth Aged Care Act Transition Support Grant

  A Department of Health and Aged Care grant to assist residents with transition in support services. This funding will help seniors navigate changes in care and maintain their independence.

• Commonwealth Blackspots Program Grants

  A Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts grant to reduce traffic accidents and improved road safety. The project will address hazardous areas and enhance overall traffic management.

  An Office for Women (Sport and Recreation Victoria) grant to support the continued implementation of the Fair Access in Sport Policy and Action Plan.

• Victorian Youth Fest Grant

  A Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (Office for Youth) grant to deliver an all-ages showcase for young bands, aiming to provide young people with the opportunity to showcase their skills and talents in a safe and inclusive environment, provide practical experience and employment pathways for them in the creative industries, as well as recognise and celebrate young people in our community.
