Bay Trail Lighting
The existing green colour goose neck lights were at the end of their useful life. New energy efficient LEDs lights illuminate the footpath and cycle path providing a safe environment for all users along the Bay Trail.

Stage 3 of our lighting upgrade runs from Port Melbourne Life Saving Club to South Melbourne Life Saving Club.

Why are we doing this?
The new energy efficient LED lighting aligns with council Sustainable Public Lighting Guidelines and energy targets.
The new lighting will provide for increased safety in more evenly distributed path lighting.
The impact
Temporary fencing will be set up along the work area and the pedestrian footpath closed during construction. The cycle path will be temporarily changed to a pedestrian path.
Objectives
This project includes:
- Removing old green goose neck light poles
- Installing 26 new poles with energy-efficient LED lighting
- Landscape reinstatement and new planting near Port Melbourne Life Saving Club
