The festival recognises the valuable contribution older people have made and continue to make to our community.

The 2024 City of Port Phillip Seniors Festival will take place from 1 to 14 October.

How to get involved in the 2024 Seniors Festival

Apply for a Seniors Festival Events Grant

The City of Port Phillip provides seniors festival events grants to fund events in Port Phillip. The purpose of the Seniors Festival is to promote a positive attitude to ageing amongst the whole community.

Applications are invited for events that showcase your organisation or community such as open days at sporting clubs and cultural groups, musical and literary events, dances and art exhibitions, events that prioritise inclusion and celebration.

Host an event in the 2024 Seniors Festival

Local senior involving organisations can submit program ideas for the 2024 City of Port Phillip Seniors Festival.

If you would like to host an event, please call Assist on 9209 6777 and ask to speak to the Team Leader Community Building.

Submit an Entry to Port Phillip Writes - the Seniors Festival Writing Awards

Applications for the 2024 Port Phillip Writes competition are now open and will close on Friday 28 June 2024.

Port Phillip Writes is an annual event showcasing the imagination, writing skills, and creative expression of seniors.

Anyone fifty-five or older who lives, works, or is a member of a library in Port Phillip can enter. See below information about how to enter.

Applications for the 2024 Port Phillip Writes competition will open on Monday 15 April and will close on Friday 28 June 2024.

Port Phillip Writes is an annual event showcasing the imagination, writing skills, and creative expression of seniors.

Anyone 55 or older who lives, works, or is a member of a library in Port Phillip can enter.

In 2024 prizes we will award the following prizes:

Major Fiction Prize - $300 Book Voucher
Highly Commended Fiction Prize - $100 Book Voucher
Major Non-fiction Prize - $300 Book Voucher
Highly Commended Non-fiction Prize - $100 Book Voucher
Major Poetry Prize - $300 Book Voucher
Highly Commended Poetry Prize - $100 Book Voucher

Printed application forms will also be available at St Kilda Town Hall, Port Melbourne Town Hall Assist, and Port Phillip Libraries from Monday 15 April.
