Youth Advisory Committee

The Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) is a group of passionate young people aged 15 to 25 who want to make a difference in their community, gain leadership skills and be influential in local government decision making.

The YAC meet once a month - consulting with council and external organisations surrounding issues facing young people within the City of Port Phillip. The Committee also manage a number of self-guided community projects and partake in various training opportunities to develop their skills to better help support their community.

Past YAC Projects

In April 2022 the Youth Advisory Committee transformed a Chapel Street substation by painting a mural under the guidance of artist Queensland-based artist Alison Mooney. The Committee worked together to develop a project brief, researched and communicated with various artists, and assisted with painting the mural on the day. The committee also liaised with the Graffiti Mitigation team at Port Phillip with the added benefit of discouraging graffiti by painting a mural.

How can I join the committee?

To be eligible to join the YAC you must be aged between 15 to 25 and live, work, study or play in the City of Port Phillip.
