• Understanding the Solihull approach to parenting - 27 March 2024

  The session aims to give parents the skills to better understand their children’s behaviour by linking developmental and psychological theories to what children do, as well as how parents respond.

  The Solihull Approach to parenting will be used during the session to help parents better understand what their children are trying to communicate through their behaviour.

  This reflective approach to parenting challenges parents to think about their own feelings, how they act and their own childhood to promote positive and easy changes in the ways they relate to their children to strengthen relationships.

• Body safety - Early years workshop - 8 May 2024

  FOR PARENTS/CARERS OF CHILDREN AGED 0 - 4

  We’re collaborating with Body Safety Australia to provide parents and carers with a practical workshop for children in early years and primary years.

  The workshops will give you the information and tools you’ll need to have those difficult conversations with your child about body safety and consent and how to prevent childhood sexual abuse and grooming.

  With your learnings, you’ll be able to confidently support your child to enjoy healthy and respectful relationships, now and into the future

• Body safety - Primary years workshop - 22 May 2024

  FOR PARENTS/CARERS OF CHILDREN AGED 5 - 12

  Join us for an empowering workshop with Body Safety Australia on child sexual abuse prevention.
  
  This two-hour practical workshop empowers families with safety tools that can be used within the home, school and community. Body Safety Australia is committed to partnering with families and communities to prevent childhood sexual abuse and to support children in enjoying healthy, respectful relationships now and in the future.
  
  The workshop will cover:
  - Childhood sexual abuse: the risk, myths and misconceptions
  - Ten key areas of body safety
  - Identifying grooming behaviours
  - Age appropriate play
  - Digital technology, grooming and abuse prevention
  - Practical body safety strategies to use at home
  - Supporting the at-risk child, including self-care
  
  Strictly no children allowed at this program.

• Strength-based parenting - May 2024

  This workshop will provide an opportunity to explore challenges being faced by families in 2024 and uncover how family and habits of life are crucial to building positive memories, empower children to build confidence and enhance a sense of purpose from the youngest of ages.

  Parents will leave with tangible strategies to help support their children's wellbeing and to create a solid foundation to support the family's wellbeing.

• Sessions ran by Maternal and Child Health Nurses

  Council's Maternal and Child Health nurses run a number of information sessions and programs which support families with young children.

  These include the Sleep and Settling program, food sessions for babies and toddlers, and the Breastfeeding Support Clinic.
