Alanna Lorenzon

Alanna Lorenzon is a Naarm/ Melbourne based artist who creates meticulously rendered interpretations of otherworldly landscapes.

Alanna's intricate graphite drawings bring the viewer face to face with the sublime wonder of ecological phenomena. Having undertaken residencies in the Finnish countryside (Arteles Creative Center, 2018), The Tarkine Wilderness in Tasmania (Tarkine in Motion for the Bob Brown Foundation, 2017), and Iceland (SÍM residency, Reykjavik, 2013), Alanna has travelled widely to seek an encounter with unique ecological spaces. Her emotional connection with these environments is palpable within her works, as seen in the care she takes to recreate every crack and crevice. This time-intensive drawing process serves to mimic the sense of timelessness which pervades these far-flung places.

Alanna’s work has been exhibited widely both in Australia and overseas and she has been the recipient of the Australia Council ArtStart Grant, Janet Holmes à Court artist Grant as well as being a finalist in the Paul Guest Drawing Prize in Bendigo in 2018. In 2022 Alanna Lorenzon was artist in residence at Bilpin international ground for Creative initiatives in the Wollemi National Park within the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Greater Blue Mountains.
