Planning documentation search
A planning documentation search is commonly requested by people who have an interest in a proposal for, or are seeking the planning history of, a particular site.
The search accesses completed planning permit files which can include copies of:
- planning permits
- endorsed plans
- delegate reports
- endorsed documents.
How to apply
The easiest way to apply for a Planning Documentation Search is online. Please follow the below link and either register or Login to our Online Services portal.
Note: If you are registering for the first time please ensure you edit your account details to add a postal address as this is not part of the initial registration process. For detailed instructions click here.
- Select ‘apply for a permit’
- Then scroll down until you find ‘Planning and Building Documentation Search’ and select ‘Start’
- Finally in the drop down select ‘Planning File Search’
To begin your application start by entering the property address.
Fees
After your application is received and lodged an officer will email you a tax invoice, including instructions for how to pay the application fee.

Time frames
Searches will generally be processed within 10 business days of lodgement however, complex searches may take longer.
