Solar for commercial buildings

The City of Port Phillip supports commercial property owners to overcome the barriers of installing solar. We've partnered with two quality suppliers to make rooftop solar affordable and simple.

How to take part

If you would like to participate in our solar partnership, please email us.

Please include the following in your email so our solar partners can assess your suitability for solar:

  • Contact details (your name, number, and email)
  • Property details (property address, property type, and number of levels),
  • Photos of the following:
    • A recent electricity bill
    • Electricity meter and meter box
    • Switchboard

What happens next?

Step 1 - Once you’ve emailed us, your details will be provided to our solar partners for their assessment.

Step 2 - You will then be contacted by a solar partner with an initial assessment of the suitability of your roof for solar and a preliminary cost estimate.

Step 3 - If you are willing to take the next steps, the solar partner will make a time to visit the property to confirm site details and provide a detailed quote. Council officers will be able to assist you to interpret this quote.

Step 4 - Once this quote has been approved, installation can be scheduled.

Step 5 - Following installation, the solar partner will organise paperwork for you to sign to arrange for your system to be connected to the grid. The timing of connection can vary dependent on your network provider.

If you require any assistance during this process, please don’t hesitate to contact the Sustainability Programs team at or 03 9209 6690.
