Apartment buildings house large amounts of people and public common areas such as building entrances, exits, corridors and lifts pose a greater risk for the spread of COVID-19 infection.

Posters for communal areas

The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) has developed a series of information posters about how to stop the spread of COVID-19 in apartments and multi-dwelling properties. Owners Corporations are encouraged to print and prominently display these posters in common areas throughout their property, to raise awareness among residents.

Posters include:

  • Feeling unwell? Get tested
  • Wash your hands regularly
  • Cover your cough and sneeze
  • Slowing the spread of coronavirus.

Cleaning public common areas

Owners Corporations should consult with their cleaning contractors to ensure that the best methods of cleaning are being undertaken in all public common areas. It’s also recommend that you consider temporarily closing any high-risk communal spaces such as swimming pools, spas, gyms and BBQs while COVID-19 remains a high risk to the community.
