Temporary suspension of JUMP electric bike trial

Published 25 March 2020

JUMP Australia, General Manager, Henry Greenacre

"In line with the increased state and local government guidance for COVID-19 we are temporarily pausing the JUMP app in Victoria. We will begin warehousing bikes this morning.

This is a difficult and uncertain time but there is no doubt the health and safety of the Melbourne, Yarra and Port Phillip communities will always come first for JUMP.

We have been very encouraged with how these e-bikes have been embraced so far in this trial and are looking forward to getting back on the road when the time is right."

City of Melbourne Lord Mayor Sally Capp

"It's disappointing to have to temporarily suspend the shared e-bike trial but we deemed it necessary as we continue to focus our efforts on helping to stop the spread of COVID-19. As all levels of government are urging people to stay at home it would be inappropriate to continue to operate the trial at this time.

We worked with JUMP to suspend operations on Tuesday night and they have acted swiftly in the best interests of our community."

City of Port Phillip Mayor Bernadene Voss

"JUMP e-bikes were due to be rolled out in Port Phillip about now. While we had been looking forward to the arrival of this sustainable transport choice, public safety is absolutely paramount as we all work together to help stop the spread of COVID-19."
