Visitors to South Melbourne will be able to take a deep-dive into the popular precinct with today's launch of Port Phillip Council's free Love South Melbourne app.
Featuring bespoke shopping and dining experiences, vibrant street art, and hidden laneways, the Love South Melbourne app is like being best friends with a local.
Mayor Louise Crawford said the Love South Melbourne app showcased the best of the thriving area.
"There are so many hidden gems in South Melbourne and I'm excited for our community and visitors to discover what lies beneath. From its historical roots to a modern-day foodie and cultural hotspot, South Melbourne really does have it all," Cr Crawford said.
"While you're on the hunt, keep an eye out for the Love South Melbourne green and gold heart-shaped doormats, and custom gem-adorned dog bowls, designed by local artist, Lacey Griffiths."
Love South Melbourne offers users the opportunity to experience pre-set walking and audio tours, as well as providing the tools to create a personalised experience based on particular interests, which can be shared with friends or family.
To celebrate the launch of Love South Melbourne, Council has created a 30 minute 'Hidden Gems' walking tour competition, which takes users through the true hidden gems of South Melbourne. The competition runs until the end of April 2021.
Follow the Hidden Gems trail on the Love South Melbourne app and collect virtual Hidden Gems at each stop, discovering vibrant coffee culture and culinary delights, alluring street art and fascinating heritage along the way.
Entrants will automatically go into the draw to win weekly South Melbourne Experience packages, a wonderful way to truly get to know the hidden gems of South Melbourne.
