Work Zone Permit

When is a Work Zone Permit required?

A Work Zone Permit is issued to provide dedicated parking ONLY for workers vehicles during the construction period.

The permit allows for the use of 4 x parking bays or 24 metres of road (whichever is the lesser) to be used for construction vehicles to park.  Work Zones must be located in front of the building site. 

Work Zone signage will take approximately two weeks to install once a permit issued.

Please note:

  • The following hours of operation apply: 7.00am to 5.00pm, Monday to Saturday.  All clearway restrictions are overriding. 
  • Vehicles parked in Work Zones not displaying the permit are liable for parking fines.
  • Payment must be made prior to any sign installation.
  • Where a Work zone is installed in existing paid parking areas, an additional cost equivalent to a cumulative total to the maximum fee charged per day for the period of the installation is required.
  • A separate permit is required for the placement of bins or other construction equipment on public land.
  • The permit is not effective until signage is installed.  Installation of signage can take up to 14 business days. 
     

Applying for a Work Zone Permit

The applicant is required to:

  • provide a site plan/drawing clearly showing the size of the Work Zone (i.e. number of parking bays required) and the location of the Work Zone;
  • provide a copy of a letter of consent from the adjacent property owners stating that they do not object to the Work Zone in front of their property;
  • complete the Work Zone Permit Application; and 
  • pay the relevant permit fee and any additional parking bay charges.
  • When your Work Zone Permit is no longer needed or is ready to expire the permit holder must complete and return this form Request for Removal of Work Zone; so that the Work Zone signs can be removed and parking conditions are reinstated to previous parking arrangements.

What does the permit cost?

Fees and charges:

  • $1090.00 - 3 months or less permit
  • $1,950.00 - 6 month permit
  • $2,550.00 - 9 month permit
  • $3,175.00 - 12 month permit
  • Extensions - $730.00 per month
  • Additional parking bays, in excess of standard four bays - $220.00 per bay per month

Payment

If the assessment of the application determines that it is appropriate to issue a permit, all permit fees and charges must be paid prior to the permit being issued. Please find attached CoPP Payment Form.
 

How long will an application take to assess?

Applications take 5 business days to assess provided no further information or changes are required.
