Community Garden DIG IN
A celebratory BBQ attended by both Councillor Bolitho and Michael Danby MP was held at the Dig In vegetable garden at JL Murphy Reserve on Sunday 5th October. The environmentally conscious group applied for a State Government Community Water Grant in 2007. Their bid was successful and their project is now complete. The project was to harvest rain water off the soccer club rooms roof and have it run into a 22,500 Litre water tank (supplied by Council) 60% of the water needed to irrigate their vegetable plots now comes form the water tank.
The Dig In group are now planning to extend their water harvesting catchment by utilising the whole soccer club rooms roof to collect all the water required to irrigate their vegetables.
