Under the Radar - Youth short film competition

27 October

Are you under 21? Do you have a passion for filmmaking? If you answered yes then the City of Port Phillip wants to hear from you!

Council is currently calling for entries for Under the Radar – the youth category of the St Kilda Short Film Festival Competition. There are $1000’s worth of prizes up for grabs and the chance to have your film screened at an internationally renowned film festival!

This is the third year council will run this category, which is solely dedicated to providing an opportunity for young Australian film makers to pursue their craft.

“Although the St Kilda Film Festival is an open entry competition, sometimes it’s difficult for young people to compete against more experienced and mature film makers. So council developed the Under the Radar category, which gives young people the opportunity to compete with their peers,” said Mayor Cr Frank O’Connor.

“This is a great opportunity for young film makers to showcase their work and potentially produce future stars of cinema both in front of and behind the camera,” he said.

Embarking on its 27th year the St Kilda Film Festival, presented and produced by the City of Port Phillip, screens Australian short films in all genres including drama, comedy, documentary, animation and digital media.

Last year there were 28 entries in the Under the Radar and Gracey Louey won the competition with her six-minute short ‘Wax Wings’.

This is a Victorian Government Initiative FReeZa event, free of drugs, alcohol and smoking, and fully supervised.

Call for entries in the Under the Radar category close March 1st 2010.
