Data on travel behaviour in the City of Port Phillip continues to be collected and analysed. Some information is available on those trips that take place entirely within Port Phillip. These journeys make up about 40 per cent of all the trips that start or finish within the city.

The disturbing thing about these figures is that 20 per cent of trips under 400 metres and almost 40 per cent of trips under 800m are done by car. Not only does this have health and evironmental implications, but also it means that we are significantly contributing to the vehicle and parking problems within the city.

The City of Port Phillip's parking and transport policies are directed at changing these trends through the management of parking and the improvement of public transport and alternate transport such as cycling and walking.
