Transport Strategies
Council has a vision for Port Phillip to be a connected and liveable city where residents, visitors and workers can live and travel car free by improving the convenience, safety, accessibility and range of sustainable travel choices across our City. Council adopted a suite of sustainable transport documents focused on achieving this vision:
- Sustainable Transport Strategy - which provides a unifying vision for sustainable transport and will guide decision making in the City of Port Phillip.
- Bike Plan - sets out proposed strategies and actions to improve bike riding in the City of Port Phillip over the timeframe 2011-2020.
- Walk Plan - sets out proposed strategies and actions to improve walking in the City of Port Phillip over the timeframe 2011-2020.
- Public Transport Advocacy Statement - steps out the Council’s priorities for improving the public transport network within Port Phillip, based upon extensive community input. It has helped to secured State Government agreements to upgrade of Balaclava Station and extend the 606 bus route.
- Parking Plan (See the Parking Permits page for the latest Parking Permits Policy)
- Road User Safety Strategy - steps out how Council will improve safety in Port Phillip for all road users, based on Council’s hierarchy of road users with walking, bike riding and public transport at the top and single occupancy as the lowest priority.
