New Mattress Recycling Service

The City of Port Phillip will now be recycling all un-wanted mattresses.  Council will be accepting mattresses at the South Melborne Transfer Station (from Port Phillip residents only) at no charge.  The mattresses will be transported to Moorabbin for refurbishment and or recycling by local business Dreamsafe.  For more information on the recycling process visit the Dreamsafe website.

New electronic waste recycling facilities at the Transfer Station

Port Phillip is proud to now offer its residents an opportunity to recycle their unwanted electronic goods at the South Melbourne transfer station.  Working with Beyond Waste recycling, a local company, the city of Port Phillip is now accepting unwanted electronic goods for recycling into new products.

The new service is free of charge to residents and will accept the following materials:

  • All computer associated parts (including CPUs, mice, keyboards, cables and software)
  • Computer monitors (no scratches, screen burn or broken surrounds)
  • Laptop computers
  • Printers
  • Scanners
  • Fax machines
  • Mobile phones

This service is yet another important step towards a 'Zero Waste' community.  It will ensure that Port Phillip dramatically reduces the amount of potentially hazards, electronic wastes going to landfill.
