Street Furniture constitute a very important part of city's streetscape, which seeks to provide clarity of movement, beauty and interest of streets and open spaces, as well as continuity and harmony of total urban environment. The goal of the Street Furniture Asset Plan is to provide accessible, easy to maintain, comfortable and well designed assets to contribute effectively to the appearance of the street and to ensure that they are fit for the purpose. The City of Port Phillip aims to closely monitor the quality of service delivery to the community, while ensuring the requirements of Australian Standards and local government practices and specifications are met. We need seats and benches to sit, drinking water fountains for sustenance, bollards to control traffic, flags and moving signs, bicycle racks, traffic light, fire hydrants, directional signs and symbols at definite places. The Port Phillip Council maintains these assets on main roads, local roads, laneways, and designated car parks, parks and foreshore areas. Objectives
There are bus shelters along nominated public transport routes within the city. Most of these shelters are owned and maintained by private operators. The council liaises with these operators on an ongoing basis to determine and review the upkeep of these shelters.
