Description

The St Kilda Road neighbourhood is bounded by St Kilda Road, High Street and Punt Road to the east; Queens Road to the south; Albert Park Lake and Kingsway to the west; and Dorcas Street to the north.

Characteristics

The St Kilda Road neighbourhood is unique within the City of Port Phillip due to its proliferation of office uses, high rise residential and hotels. The housing stock forms a minor component of the neighbourhood, although there are some remaining examples from the Victorian and Edwardian eras.

The neighbourhood experienced significant residential development from 1996 to 2001, reflecting the attraction of nearby Fawkner Park and Albert Park and proximity to employment and education.

The neighbourhood is well served by the St Kilda Road trams.

Other notable physical features include the Albert Cricket Ground and a number of overseas consulates.
