The new integrated family and children's centre will provide:
- up to 116 licensed children's services places - this is an increase of 63 new places on the current St Kilda Children’s Centre
- maternal and child health services
- spaces for playgroups
- new parent groups
- early childhood intervention services
- family services
- multi purpose use rooms
Construction began in March 2011. Basement excavation and works to be completed by September 2011. Environmental impact will be managed to minimise impact on amenity ( this means traffic and noise, and dust).
Location
- public land at 171 Chapel Street, near the corner of Carlisle Street, St Kilda
- St Kilda Children’s Centre has temporarily relocated to 8 York Street, St Kilda. The Maternal and Child Health service is currently operating from the St Kilda Town Hall, corner Carlisle Street and Brighton Road, St Kilda.

Cost: $ 12 milion
Funding:
- Council's investment is a considerable $10.3million.
- Australian Government funding is $1.6million (Early Learning and Care Centre capital works program under the Additional Early Learning and Care Centres Initiative)
- State of Victoria's investment is 0.5million (Department of Education and Early Childhood Development's capital funding initiative to promote and assist the establishment of early childhood services facilities in the community)
