Community Centres & Venues for Hire
South Melb Town Hall Precinct & Community Hub
A new role for the South Melbourne Town Hall
The spanking-new $2 million community hub, opening on Wednesday June 6 2009 at South Melbourne Town Hall.
The community hub offers homes to six community groups, several different meeting rooms, including one big enough to hold 100 people, plus kitchens, and toilets. There’s lots of light and lots of space and the old South Melbourne colours of red and white are reflected in the colour of the new furniture.
Friends of the ABC, Save Albert Park and Port Phillip Citizens for Reconciliation have relocated to the hub from the old post office building opposite which has been earmarked for Port Phillip’s urban history centre.
The other three community groups to have taken out leases at the hub are Port Phillip Life Activities Club, Boon Wurrung Foundation, and Sputnik Russian Cultural and Television Association.
