Road development permits are required in the City of Port Phillip if you intend to carry out works or hold events which may disrupt road use. Road permits help us minimise inconvenience to the community and maximise safety to all road users.

See links below for details.

Road Opening Permit A permit is required if you are intending to connect to stormwater or sewer pipes through a roadway, nature strip or footpath.
Skip Bin Permit A permit is required when a skip bin is to be placed on council land. It is the skip bin company, not the person hiring the bin, that needs to apply for a skip bin permit.
Vehicle Crossing Permit Applications for new driveways or repairs to existing driveways must be lodged with the council. All application sites are inspected before a permit can be approved.
Road & Lane Closure & Crane Permit Permit to temporarily close a road or a lane or operate a crane on a road, footpath or naturestrip. This permit is required for the use of large mobile machinery on council land. This includes mobile cranes, concrete pumps, booms etc. A Traffic Management Plan must accompany any new application for the use of any part of the roadway or footpath.
Hoarding Permit A Hoarding permit is required for the placement of fencing of an area for scaffolding or other equipment on any Port Phillip road, footpath or nature strip which is used to protect pedestrians, and or security of a building site.
Work Zone Permit A Work Zone Permit is issued to provide dedicated parking for construction workers vehicles during the construction period.
