Mayhem: Activities for young disabled people

Kombiz Youth Network is committed to community and youth development in and for the City of Port Phillip, particularly South and Port Melbourne.  Kombiz offers various programs for young people in a safe, supportive and fun environment. Programs include:

Girl Zone - Monday afternoon group for girls in years 5+ that offers a safe place and fun activities to develop self-esteem and social skills.  Activities include jewelery making,  rock climbing, dance and cooking.  Port Neighborhood House, Port Melbourne 4 - 5:30 pm, cost $3.00

Savage - Monday afternoon group for boys in years 5+ that offers fun and challenging recreation for boys and blokes. Activities including music, sport, camping and cooking. Sol Green Recreation Centre, South Melbourne, 4- 5:30 pm, cost $3.00

Impact - Offering fun and energetic activities for young people in years 5-7. Table tennis, board games, music and more is offered every Wed 4 - 5:30 pm. during school terms. Sol Green Recreation Centre, South Melbourne, cost $3.00

Friday Night Drop In - Drop in Centre for young people in years 8 - 12 to come and chill out or be involved in various activities including pool competitions, DVDS, music, karoke, and cooking. Friday nights 7-9 pm at Sol Green Recreation Centre, South Melbourne, cost $3.00

ourspace - A space for high school students to make their own. Homework, music, guitar lessons, friends and support that caters to young people and provides a safe and inclusive environment. Thursday evenings 4-6 pm at Sol Green Recreation Centre, South Melbourne, cost free

'The Lounge' - A new program specifically for young people in years 7 & 8.  It is a place to hang out, reconnect with local friends, share stories and experiences from their new schools and chill with music, food and enjoy games and other activities.

Friday evenings 5:30 - 7 pm at Sol Green Recreation Centre, cost $3

Thursday Night Club

Indoor recreational activity based drop-in service for young people aged 12 - 14 years who live in and around South Melbourne.

Girlstorey @ the YWCA

Girlstorey is a women's only centre, providing a safe, friendly space run by women for women.

The Centre aims to provide opportunities for young women to contribute to their peer and broader communities through programs such as the Art Space, Music Room, Something Close and the Drop-In Support Service.

St Kilda Police & Citizen's Youth Club Inc.

St Kilda Police and Citizens Youth Club offers an excellent range of skills based recreational activities, training and classes at very affordable rates. PCYC is located at 179 Inkerman Street, St Kilda and also provides activities at various locations around Port Phillip via the Mobile Activity Centre.

Mobile Activity Centre currently attends Park Towers Housing Estate Park St South Melbourne Thursday evenings between 5.00pm & 7.00pm

The Joint Councils' Access For All Abilities (JCAAA)

JCAAA aims to develop a coordinated approach to the planning and provision of sport and recreation opportunities for people with disabilities across the four councils.  Through developing partnerships with sport and recreation providers, council services, specialist disability service agencies and people with disabilities and their carers, to increase options and support for people with physical, intellectual, sensory and psychiatric disabilities. Scouts Australia

Scouting is the largest youth organisation the world with over 25,500 youth members and 5,200 trained adult leaders in Victoria. Australian Scouts are members of the 25 million strong World Scouting Movement in 217 countries and territories. Scouts are for girls and boys aged between 6 to young adults of 26 years.
