Rebates are available to ease the rate burden for elderly residents in the City of Port Phillip. A reduction in the amount of rates payable may also be available if you own property used exclusively for cultural or recreational purposes.

Pension rebate

A state government pension rebate on rate payments is available for holders of pensioner concession cards issued by CentreLink or the Department of Veterans Affairs; Gold Repatriation Health Card - Totally and Permanently Incapacitated (TPI) issued by the Department of Veterans Affairs; or Gold Repatriation Health Card - War Widow (WW) issued by the Department of Veterans Affairs. The state government rebate is 50 per cent of the rates payable to a maximum of $178.60.

The pension rebate is only available to pensioners residing at the property for which they are applying for the exemption.

To apply for a pension rebate on your rates and charges you must present your pension card and rate notice to any of the Port Phillip Town Halls. You will only need to provide your pension details or ownership details once. In subsequent years the pension rebate will be automatically calculated on your rates account.
