Proposed Amendment C61

Overview

At the Council's Strategy and Policy Review Committee on 2 April 2007, the Manager for Environment and Renewal presented the findings of a report by Ratio Consultants Pty Ltd entitled  "City of Port Phillip Sustainable Transport Policy and Parking Rates - March 2007".

Please see City of Port Phillip Sustainable Transport Policy and Parking Rates 2007  for more information.

Council proposes to translate these findings via an amendment to the Port Phillip Planning Scheme (Amendment C61).

State Government Review of Parking Provisions in Planning Schemes

In August 2007, the State Government released the Advisory Committee Report on the "Review of Parking Provisions in Planning Schemes" which proposed the introduction of new planning mechanisms (a Parking Overlay / revised Clause 52.06 - Parking) which will enable Council to collect contributions for sustainable transport initiatives purposes to offset a reduction in on-site parking provision.

For more information about the Advisory Committee report and proposed planning mechanisms, click on the following link - DPCD Parking Provisions Review.

Further work on Amendment C61 to the Port Phillip Planning Scheme to incorporate the new parking rates will be suspended until Council completes the strategic work required to support the new Parking Overlay once the mechanism becomes available.
