Port Melbourne/Garden City/Beacon Cove Community Hub
Liardet Community Centre located at 154 Liardet St, Port Melbourne is a key Community Hub for the Port Melbourne, Garden City and Beacon Cove area.
The goal for the hub is to create a thriving and busy place where people can come to access the activities and programs of the Port Melbourne Neighbourhood House and the local services of South Port Information & Support Services [ SPISS ], Homeground Services - Housing and Support Services, Daylinks - transport service for community groups and for older or frail residents in Port Phillip, Petlinks - support to older and frail residents to maintain their pets at home, Bay St Traders Association and the Inner South Community Health - Legal Aid Service.
There is also available multi-purpose community space for local groups, clubs and residents to hire. One of the great features of the space is a comfortable drop-in lounge with an open fire - great for popping in for a visit, checking out what's on offer or what activities are happening there, chatting with other local people or reading the newspaper on a cold winters day.
Information about both Council and community services is on display and also through free access to Port Phillip online where you can browse and search for other community information, service information, council reports, use payment services and access community and business directories.
Other community centres available for community use in the Port Melbourne / Garden City / Beacon Cove area:

Port Melbourne Family & Children's Hub
The Port Melbourne Family & Children's Hub Port opened in May 2007. It is located on the grounds of the Port Melbourne Primary School. It is home to the Port Melbourne Toy Library, Southport Occasional Childcare Service, Community Playgroups, Inner South Community Health Service programs and the school's Out of School Hours Care Program.
A community based Committee of Management has been established to manage and operate the Family & Children's Hub into the future.
The Family & Children's Hub project is part of a broader Community Strengthening Project - “Creating the Connections” - which has been put in place by the City of Port Phillip, Port Melbourne Primary School and the State Government. The project aims to bring local people, agencies and governments together to identify needs, plan and decide jointly around community activities, local services and events. For more information about the project or services at the Port Melbourne Family & Children's Hub contact the Community Development Worker on 9209 6582 or view the community strengthening in Port Melbourne page.
