Port Melbourne Waterfront Urban Design Framework

Port Melbourne Waterfront postcard

The City of Port Phillip has prepared a draft Port Melbourne Waterfront Urban Design Framework (UDF) which will enhance liveability, improve public spaces and secure a sustainable future for the precinct. It addresses the pressures on the waterfront area whilst recognising the rich maritime history and its unique character.

The submission period to the draft UDF closed on 9 March 2012.

Council voted on a Motion at its meeting on 13 March 2012 that agreed to a process of review for the draft UDF in light of the feedback received during the consultation period.

Council heard and considered submissions to the draft UDF at it meeting on 27 March 2012.

At this meeting Council resolved, amongst other things, to undertake further strategic work on the Port Melbourne Waterfront including detailed design guidelines for the property located at 1-7 Waterfront Place that reflect the Urban Design Advice prepared for 1-11 Waterfront Place, Beacon Cove that was adopted by Council in October 2009.

Planning for this work will be presented to Council at a public meeting on 28 May 2012.
