Playground Strategy
Strategy Content
We recognise that the changes in population density and reduction in private space requires the provision of public play spaces for all children. Our playground strategy aims to direct the capital works program for upgrading our assets throughout the city over the next five years. A draft strategy was available for comment early in 2007.
Background
The strategy is a precinct analysis of playgrounds and audits in terms of general condition and play value.
The strategy also covers issues relating to playground management including fences, shade, adventure playgrounds, user satisfaction, participation and dogs near playgrounds. Also discussed is the value of play, classification of playgrounds and an inventory divided into districts with recommendations for upgrades.
The Playground Strategy was endorsed by council in April 2007.
