Youth Engagement and Participation Officer  

• Full-time, 6 moth maternity leave position
• Salary starting at $66,728 per annum plus superannuation

An exciting opportunity has become available for a skilled and enthusiastic Youth/Community Development practitioner to join our Family Youth and Children team based at the St Kilda Town Hall.

In this position you will provide advice and expertise with regards to all aspects of youth engagement and participation.

Your main responsibilities will be to:-

• Lead Council’s Civic leadership program incorporating the facilitation of the Youth Action Team, Monitoring and support of Big Cake student initiatives and coordination of The Youth in Chamber event
• Coordinate partnerships around Council’s Freeza events program including Freestyle Fever Dance Comp and South Melbourne Youth Festival
• Represent the participation and engagement agenda at key service networks
• Advance Council’s capacity to seek input, listen and respond to young people
• Contribute to the Family Youth and Children leadership team

This is a busy and demanding position that requires you to handle multiple tasks with competing priorities but also gives you variety and opportunity to expand your youth service portfolio. To be successful in this role, you will:-

• A commitment to community and youth engagement and participation and a strong passion for interacting and engaging young people
• Experience in community development including building and strengthening relationships and engagement with external agencies and groups
• Proven experience in coordinating, implementing and evaluating programs and events at a community level

Governance Advisor

- Providing high level analytical and investigative skill in your governance support and advice to the organisation
- Providing executive support to Council’s Audit Committee and assist in the Council election and transition program.
- Building the capacity of two capable staff in the support of Council meetings and procedures.

You will ideally have an excellent understanding of the Local Government Act and be familiar with the governance processes and practices.

HR Administrator/Business Support Officer

  • administer the recruitment process including sourcing, screening, pre-employment checks and new employee paperwork
  • provide basic advice on policies and procedures and support managers and staff as required
  • develop and streamline processes and procedures to support a team of specialists

Footpath Trading Administrator

• Salary starting at $66,728 per annum, plus superannuation
• Full-time, permanent
• Based at St Kilda Town Hall

This specialised position is within the City Permits unit, (encompassing Footpath Trading and Development Permits), responsible for the administration of footpath trading activities under Council’s Local Law No. 7, including assessment and maintenance of permits to trade on Council’s land.

This high profile position requires strong communication skills with a range of internal and external stakeholders. The successful applicant will require advanced public relations skills, preferably in a business environment and administration, and demonstrate leadership and I.T skills. They must be a team player and enjoy the challenge of a busy office, with demonstrated time and priority management abilities.

• Salary range $74,929 - $83,850 pa + 9% super
• Full-time, 3 year fixed-term contracts

The first position is for a Civil Design Engineer/Project Manager with project management expertise to join the Project Services department, based at 232 Carlisle Street, St Kilda. The second position is for an experienced Senior Transport Project Engineer to join the Traffic and Parking Design team within the Assets Department, based at the St Kilda Town Hall.

As part of teams accountable for the planning, design and delivery of the Capital Works Program, you will be responsible for the ‘hands-on’ design, tender and construction delivery of projects mainly involving sustainable transport.

You will be a tertiary qualified Civil Engineer with ‘hands-on’ sustainable transport design and project management experience. You must be self-motivated and a team player with the ability to work autonomously.

IT Project Manager

The City of Port Phillip has an exciting opportunity for an IT Project Manager to join the newly created IT Projects and Strategy team.

In this permanent role you will work closely with the IT Business Analysts, as well as project sponsors, stakeholders, department representatives and the IT department to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of a broad program of IT projects.

Experience in the management of IT projects and processes using Prince2, PMBOK or other recognised Project Management framework would be well regarded, as would experience implementing a project management framework.

The ability to effectively manage workloads and timeframes for yourself and project teams while promoting a developing Project Management framework will be critical to your success in the role.

Community Care Workers & Children’s Respite Workers

The City of Port Phillip is seeking Community Care and Children’s Respite workers to provide a service to frail older people, younger people with disabilities and their Carers. Children’s Respite workers

Project Manager / Landscape Architect - Parks and Open Spaces

• Temporary 12 month contract
• Salary range $66,728 to $72,735 p.a. plus superannuation depending on skills and experience.

Are you passionate about open space and its importance to communities; do you
understand the value of community engagement; and, are you keen to work in a dynamic environment?

An opportunity exists to join the Open Space team in a 12 month contract position that is responsible for ensuring the City offers a sustainable, diverse and attractive network of open space, meeting the needs of a growing population.

You will be responsible for the design and delivery of open space capital works projects for the city.

You will need to demonstrate a high understanding of the urban landscape, appreciation of open space use in an inner urban location, and the ability to design and document landscape plans or project manage the documentation of landscape plans.

Extensive project management skills, highly developed interpersonal skills and experience in community engagement are essential. You will need to demonstrate an ability to be outcome focused. Appropriate qualifications in Project Management/Landscape Architecture/Urban Design/Recreation Planning or a related field are required.

Information Systems Support Analyst

• Full time, permanent position
• Salary range $66,728 to $72,735 plus superannuation

The City of Port Phillip Information Systems team seeks a suitably qualified Support Analyst to work on the Service Desk providing ICT support to the organisation. A strong customer focus is required to provide the first point of contact for ICT requests and incidents using the ITIL framework. With a broad knowledge of IT software and hardware you will manage and resolve cases within our agreed service levels and escalate where appropriate.

The ideal applicant will be punctual and conscientious, have good communication skills, both written and verbal and work well as part of a team. With good analytical and problem solving skills you will have had experience troubleshooting hardware and software issues and knowledge of deployment and configuration of networked devices. Experience supporting the use of Microsoft Windows 7, Microsoft Office and other corporate applications is required. Knowledge working in a Helpdesk environment using Active Directory and Novell to manage accounts and folders, along with local government experience will be highly regarded.

Coordinator Community and Health Development

The City of Port Phillip is looking for a dynamic Community and Health Development Coordinator who over the next 12 months will drive the development of the 2013 – 2017 CoPP Health and Wellbeing Plan. You will be passionate about grass roots action on Community Health & Wellbeing initiatives and have the ability to translate community response into well developed strategic Health and Wellbeing Policy and Programs. You will be responsible for managing a small group of dedicated professionals.

JCAAA Support Worker

Joint Councils Access for All Abilities (JCAAA) is an innovative community development service that works in partnership with community sport, recreation and arts providers to increase participation of people with disabilities.

As JCAAA Support Worker you will be required to provide assistance to and supervise participants attending the programs as well as encouraging participation in various programs.

JCAAA disability support workers are required to work on a casual basis. Shifts include weekends, after hours and during school holidays.

The successful application will have experience in the disability sector and be subject to a satisfactory police check. A level 2 first aid and working with children check is also required.

Parking Enforcement Officers

Our Parking Enforcement Officers are the ‘public face of the Council’ to the many visitors, residents and businesses in the City of Port Phillip.

To be successful in this position, you will need to be able to demonstrate sound knowledge of parking regulations, good judgment and high-level communication skills and a customer service-focused manner.

We are looking for officers experienced in issuing parking infringements in accordance with the Road Rules using hand held technology, or candidates with a good understanding of compliance and regulation.
