13th Annual Pride March

The 13th Annual Pride March will take place in St Kilda this coming weekend (Sunday, February 3) and will include a 5km Elite Run down Fitzroy Street.

Marchers will assemble at the corner of Lakeside Drive and Fitzroy Street, St Kilda from 4pm and at 5pm, will travel down Fitzroy Street St Kilda, finishing up with a concert at Catani Gardens until 11pm.

This year the concert site takes in Pier Road and the foreshore to make a beach party. Performers at the concert include Enda Markey and local electronic band, Emaar. The Pride March is a key event in the Midsumma Festival.

Part of the 2008 St Kilda Festival; 'Rock 'n' Roll Outlaws' is a photographic exhibition featuring some of the most rebellious and outrageous rock'n'roll performers in this land. From iconic and legendary bands such as X, Beasts of Bourbon, Magic Dirt & Jet to individual icons such as Nick Cave, Roland. S. Howard, Angry Anderson, Tim Rogers & Chrissie Amphlett.

The 'Rock 'n' Roll Outlaws' is an exhibition of work by 11 of Melbourne's most talented photographers, each with vastly different experience:

Port Phillip will welcome our new Australian citizens at a Citizenship Ceremony from 11.30am - 12.30pm on Saturday January 26 at the St Kilda Botanical Gardens. It is estimated that 250 people will be present at the ceremony itself with each new citizen being presented with an indigenous plant.

An Indonesian family from South Melbourne won the right to become citizens last September but asked if they could delay the ceremony until Australia Day. Mr Soebroto, 41, decided to migrate here in 2002 when his wife, Liana Widjaja, now 33, was studying for her masters' degree in business IT at a Melbourne university. Ms Widjaja worked at that university for two years while a student and after finishing her degree. She is now employed with a local bank. Mr Soebroto works in maritime services where supervises 50-70 staff. The couple came here on a student visa but migrated under the skilled migration scheme.

The family will mark their new-found citizenship status with a celebration joined by Mr Soebroto's mother who's come to Australia especially for hoping that she may be allowed to migrate to Australia officially.

Comedian Corinne Grant joined Port Phillip Mayor Janet Cribbes and St Kilda Police Acting Superintendent Stephen Dennis at the media launch of the 'Enjoy don't destroy' summer campaign, held at Fitzroy st venue Robarta

The council has enlisted the help of Grant as the public face of a City of Port Phillip campaign to raise awareness of and reduce public drunkenness and anti-social behaviour. Grant features in radio ads on NOVA and FOX and five different posters going up in tram and bus shelters, shopping centres and libraries in Port Phillip's five different entertainment precincts. Stickers are also being placed on council rubbish trucks.
